Solon Named A 2025 Best Community for Music Education

Congratulations! We have been selected as a 2025 Best Community for Music Education, marking the 12th year the district has received this prestigious recognition from the National Association of Music Merchants Foundation. The award honors school districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in providing music access and education to all students, reflecting Solon's continuous commitment to high-quality music education.

For Solon, this distinction highlights the broad array of both school-based and community-wide music programming and performance opportunities for students as well as the strong partnership with families of music students.

"This award highlights our district's exceptional music program and music's vital role in our students' lives," said Solon Superintendent Fred Bolden.

"Our mission to empower students toward personal excellence is achieved through strong learning standards and engaging environments, including in the arts," said Mr. Bolden. "The Solon Schools have always prioritized music and arts as foundational to our educational program. With community support, we believe academics, arts, athletics and activities deserve equal emphasis - this balanced approach attracts families who share our commitment to excellence that focuses on the whole child. Being recognized as a Best Community for Music Education affirms the meaningful impact music and the arts have on our students."

To qualify for the Best Communities designation, the district submitted detailed information about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program and community music-making programs.

"This recognition is a testament to the collaborative effort that makes our music program exceptional. The dedication of our educators, combined with enthusiastic support from parents and community partners, creates an environment where students can discover and develop their musical talents."
